Frequently asked questions to the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex

What can the client expect of the enzyme treatment for professional reduction of hair regrowth?

Successive and regular EpilaDermŽ treatments are imperative over 12 to 24 months to completely treat all targeted hair in the treatable anagen phase through a complete 1-2 year hair growth cycle.

Typically 12 to 18 such successive treatments are required with an interval between treatments of 2 to 4 weeks for facial areas and 4 to 6 weeks for body parts.

After each successive treatment regrowth time for remaining hair will typically be longer and the hairs finer and easier to remove with reduced sensation of pain. Also as treatments proceed typically fewer and fewer hairs altogether will appear on the skin surface.

A visible decrease in hair regrowth will typically require 3 to 5 treatments depending on the depilation history, the area treated and genetic disposition of the individual and can therefore be different from one person to another.

Please observe again, that in some cases clients may experience a temporary increase in hair growth following the first EpilaDermŽ enzyme treatments as the body is reacting to the treatment of the hair follicles by resetting the anagen phase for hair producing cells. Some dormant hair follicles can thereby be activated, however this will allow for increased efficacy during the subsequent treatments and even more visible results.

Due to the fact that dormant hair follicles can firstly be treated when they become visible in the anagen phase, post treatments over time are usually necessary to maintain the desired result of hair free skin.

What is the typical procedure of the EpilaDermŽ treatment?

In order to produce a qualified first result we recommend in mutual agreement between client and beautician to do at least 6 treatments, where after the first results are evaluated.

Usually another 4 to 6 treatments are subsequently done and depending on the progress of the hair regrowth reduction, the intervals between treatments are either shortened or prolonged.

Together with the client it is then agreed upon whether to continue with another 6 treatments with the same intervals as the previous 6 treatments, or if the stadium of post-treatments should now be entered with considerably longer intervals from 8 weeks up till 6 months or even longer between treatments.

Can everyone use the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex?

Basically everyone can be treated with the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex, as long as the necessary precautions through the anamneses from the beautician regarding aversion to waxing or sugaring as well as other limiting factors of skin condition, health, hormonal disturbances, pregnancy and medications have been properly done without any restrictions to the treatment. Especially it should be noted, that the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex is effective on all hair colors, hair types, skin types and all genders.

Can the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex replace treatments with other enzyme products?

Yes! The EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex is the latest generation of proteolytic active enzymes for hair regrowth reduction and provides the highest documented activity and will usually bring better results!

Can the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex replace treatments with laser or IPL?

Yes! The EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex can be used in cases of less successful treatments with laser or IPL, e.g. when remaining hairs after such treatments contains too little melanin or during the summertime. The treatments with IPL or laser must however be discontinued before performing regular and successive treatments with EpilaDermŽ.

Is the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex safe to use?

Yes! The EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex only affects the hair-producing cells in the hair follicle and does not affect healthy body cells or interfere with the surrounding tissue. The typical precautions following a waxing or sugaring should however always be followed. These include avoiding the usage of perfumed cosmetics, self tanners, make-up or deodorants, as well as sport, solarium, sunbathing, chlorinated- and thermal water within the first 24 hours after the epilation.

Are there any limitations to efficacy of the professional hair regrowth reduction with the EpilaDermŽ-Enzyme Complex?

If the desired results from the EpilaDermŽ enzyme treatment do not occur as expected, this can have different reasons:

Some persons may have unusual deep hair roots and/or twisted hair follicles, whereby the enzymes can have difficulties in reaching the hair roots, thus reducing the effect of hair regrowth reduction.

In case powder containing talcum is used by the epilation, there is a risk of remaining talcum residues in the empty hair follicle, which can influence the efficacy and the penetration of the enzymes.

Some persons have weakened hairs breaking easier inside the hair follicle by the epilation, whereby the required root deep removal of all the treatable hairs is reduced. These broken hairs can of course prevent the enzymes to reach the hair root effectively leading to reduced effect of hair regrowth reduction. This of course can also happen if the method of epilation used is not suitable and/or is not carried out in a proper professional manner, generally leading to a too high degree of breaking of hairs inside the hair follicle.

In some rare cases the hair follicle opening can "close" unusually fast after the epilation, thus reducing the penetration of the enzymes preventing that enough proteolytic enzymes reaches the hair root cells for adequate efficacy.
